The Alpha ShAAkr Head is Alpha's first endeavor into the tackle world. Engineered with our custom Alloy head that enhances sonar return and a special hook that increases landing percentage by 25%. It's tackle you'd expect from the Alpha design team!!
Our Anglers spent hundreds of hours developing the NEW Alpha ShAAkr Scoping Rod. During the prototyping process, our anglers focus on bite-generation and landing percentage. By the end of testing, the Alpha's had created the most innovative scoping rod, and shaking jig head to compliment it.... The Alpha ShAAKr Head!!
Components: It may just look like another lead jig head, but the ShAAkr head is built around a proprietary alloy developed to enhance sonar return. Higher density materials like tungsten may have a great sonar return, but the smaller head sizes reduce the sonar surface which negates the benefit of the dense material. The alloy in the ShAAkr head includes elements with high sonar reflection. It's also less dense, allowing for bigger head sizes. For instance, the 6g (.21oz) head is the same size as a 1/4oz head and the 4g (.14oz) head is the same size as a lead 3/16oz head.
Increasing the head size allows for a greater surface for sonar returns, AND keeps the bait more horizontal in the water when shaking!! Effectively, you can shake your bait in the same area for much longer, without the bait falling nose first.... way more BITES!!
Landing percentage was the biggest driving factor in the design of the ShAAkr head. Losing big fish in a tournaments will motivate any pro angler to search for a better solution. After testing every style hook available on the market, the 1x Gamakatsu in the ShAAkr head was the clear winner... by a 25% margin. This big hook won't bend out, and has a nasty barb that requires pliers to remove.

Design Philosophy: You simply can't spend hundreds of hours on the water developing fishing rods without becoming a tackle designer as well!! Our anglers question everything, especially failure. Lose a couple big fish and the Alpha's put on engineering hats. The Alpha ShAAkr head represents a powerfishing version of the Scoping, mid-strolling, shaking technique. Tighten your drag down a bit (no slip on the hook set), upsize your line, and drag those fish to the boat. If you need finesse line sizes, the ShAAkr head just needs a firm hookset, then back the drag down.

HONCHO Description
The HONCHO project began when Alpha Angler President Jake Boomer discovered a new high-performance blank material that delivered an exceptional power-to-weight ratio—lighter and more responsive than anything previously used in an Alpha Angler swimbait platform. Almost immediately, Jake recognized its potential for a very specific application: the rapidly growing glide bait market.
Glide baits demand a rod that can cast heavy baits with authority, yet remain light and balanced enough to fish comfortably all day. Rather than developing the rod in isolation, Jake and the Alpha Angler team—including Brandon—reached out to Josh Pladies, President of Clutch Swimbait Co., to collaborate on a design purpose-built for serious glide bait anglers.
Over the next 10 months, the team refined every element of the rod. The goal was simple: create a swimbait rod capable of handling the most popular glide bait sizes while remaining incredibly light and responsive in the hand.
The result is the HONCHO.
Built around its advanced blank construction, the HONCHO delivers one of the most impressive power-to-weight ratios we’ve seen in a swimbait rod. Designed to excel with 3–7 oz glide baits, it provides the backbone needed for long, controlled casts and solid hooksets, while remaining light enough to significantly reduce angler fatigue during a full day of fishing.
Beyond raw power, the rod’s refined taper was carefully tuned through extensive testing to achieve the right balance of load and recovery. This allows anglers to work glide baits with precision while maintaining the forgiveness needed to keep big fish pinned during the fight.
Every detail of the HONCHO was designed with glide bait anglers in mind, including a perfectly balanced handle length that promotes both casting leverage and accurate bait placement. Whether making long bombing casts or targeting precise structure, the handle design provides the control needed to consistently put large glide baits exactly where they need to be.
